Nectar of the Gods race number two was a challenge for anyone that has never blown glass before. The water was like glass! Certainly a challenge for the skippers to find that hint of air that might propel us just a couple of seconds faster than someone else. I have it on good authority that Art and Ed were within seconds of each other on a 40 minute race, if you can call it a race. It was more like a slow slide across the glass. I can definitely say that Roger had a brain pharghte at the start line and had to go back and START the stopwatch that I failed to do on my first entry for some “senior” reason. That cost me my initial slide toward the first mark because the hint of wind I previously had, completely died on my second attempt through the start line. That was one brutal slide of a competition!
I very much enjoyed those funny looking boats with pontoons sticking out on either side rounding The Winwood mark before I could even get comfortable sitting on the deck. You sailors did a great job!
Jeff S. and Bob H. had some pretty good competition behind me and if the course was longer they would’ve passed me.
On a positive note your vice Commodore took his two cushions and arranged one on the deck and one against the transom and stayed on one side of the tiller the entire time in a very comfortable position enjoying the scenery it was a nice day on the glass! For those of you who missed a day on the water, too bad. Overall it was very enjoyable being out there with all those other boats.
A bad day of sailing beats a good day at work.
