OSC BONFIRE "CATCH UP"
January 23, 2021
Time for some Ketchup, or for those hungry sailors that for various reasons didn’t come to the brisk bonfire at the Sims on the lake last night...Here's some CATCH UP.
There were 19 hardened First Mates and Sailors with one "Frostbiter" that actually was out on his skim-along-the-top-of-the-water-on-little-fins FLYING MACHINE before the gang and fire got organized.
There were hotdogs, brats, homemade salsa and chips, lots of condiments including Catchup, beans, mac and cheese, homemade cauliflower casserole, more?, and a host of delicious looking deserts. It was BYO, as usual for drinks, and we didn't have to bring our own firewood!
Captain Ed Sims (under the guidance of Lynn) graciously not only provided the atmosphere, the fire pit, the kindling and firewood, but he also provided the match that got it all going. Trust me when I say the heat generated by the fire was a very welcome gift as the steady breeze was right out of the north off the lake. The fire was really a wonderful sight to sit around and Ketchup, Opps, I mean Catch up with our sailing friends.
We had a beautiful pause in the activities to remember our recently passed Pat Birkenmeyer, with some loving memories contributed by some. I speak for all, when I say she will be missed.
Hot dogs and Brats expertly cooked by long handle forks...only by the ultimate consumer. I only saw one "dawg" on fire and black as coal, but I think (the lady with the mask) actually wanted it that way. I didn't see any jousting of forks in the fire, and didn't think of it until after I got home. Dang!
We conducted some business, had a treasurers report, and talked about some new business while being mesmerized by the fire. Check out the schedule in the newsletter or website or wherever we're supposed to look. You'll (I'll) figure it out later. Mark your calendars and program your phones.
As the night grew, the circle around the fire got quite a bit smaller, but we all still had a good time "CATCHING UP" with each other. Come join us next time we get together, we all seem to like the company.
