bone island regatta - by lynn sims
ATTENTION OSC MEMBERS ... FAMILY ... FRIENDS !!!
Several of our OSC members are competing in the 2023 Bone Island Regatta (hereinafter known as BIR) which is a race from Venice to Key West. The start date is Wednesday, May 17th. Boats have until Friday afternoon to finish the race. It is a non-stop 158-mile race to the finish!
Ed's Hunter 376 "Privateer" is competing again this year.
This 2023's great crew: Co-Captain Jim Edens, Tim Fischer & Bob Cole.
FYI if you didn't already know ..... this is Privateer's BIR 2022 race results:
1) THE BOAT WON 1st PLACE IN ITS CLASS!
2) THE BOAT WON 1st PLACE OVERALL IN THE ENTIRE REGATTA! (That includes all vessels that competed - including multihulls)
PS… LAST YEAR ANOTHER OSC MEMBER (and our long-time friends - Juan & Lori Guerra & sons) ALSO PLACED 1ST IN THEIR CLASS & 2ND PLACE OVERALL. Unfortunately, they are unable to compete this year because their vessel (Cumbia) was damaged in the hurricane and cannot be repaired in time for the race.
If you are interested, I have included a link so you can follow all the boats competing in this year's BIR from Venice to Key West. All BIR competitors will have a SPOT tracking device on their vessels so you can easily locate the position of Privateer and other vessels throughout the race.
It is a live feed, but when the race is finished, you can see the entire race from the beginning in real time or fast motion.
Please share the positivity with friends and family!
Track our OSC representatives and send positive thoughts for another successful win!
